 Samsung Galaxy Beam

The premise of the Galaxy Beam is the constant desire to access our information with as little effort as possible. The Galaxy Beam enables this by recognizing people and their actions occurring around it and constructing a smart environment. From this data, the Beam can serve the users in a variety of ways. For the Galaxy Beam—form is function. The circular form works seamlessly with multiple sensors and technologies to provide the ability to ‘beam’ user-specific information in a full 360 degree range around the device. The Galaxy Beam acts as an information hub for the home and office that far exceeds the capabilities of today’s common smart speaker. Designed as an extension of one’s smartphone, the Beam is for those who always need to be connected to their information. The Beam can adapt to specific environments, such as a kitchen, office or conference room.

The Beam uses an internal audio array in concert with a 360-degree OLED touchscreen to present information toward the user with the possibility of interacting with multiple people at once. The Galaxy Beam begins working once it detects motion among its surroundings. Through facial recognition using the integrated 360-degree camera, or by connecting to a user’s Galaxy phone, the device will recognize specific people and begin broadcasting appropriate data—whether that’s a video call, streaming video, or notifications. As users move around the device, the screen updates accordingly in real-time, therefore circumventing the drawback of two-dimensional displays. One doesn’t need to be positioned within a set range of the device in order to find it helpful.
